Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use MATP?

MATP is for Pennsylvania residents who receive Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and do not have transportation to medical appointments.

Where can you go with MATP?

You can use MATP to go to **any medical service covered by Medical Assistance**, including doctor visits, therapy, pharmacies, hospitals, testing, and medical equipment providers.

How is transportation provided?

Transportation is arranged in the least costly, most appropriate way for your needs. This may include:

  • Shared ride vans or accessible vehicles
  • Public transit (bus passes or tickets)
  • Mileage reimbursement if you use your own car

Does MATP provide door-to-door service?

Usually, MATP is curb-to-curb service. However, door-to-door service is provided if you have a medical need that prevents you from getting to the curb.

Can someone accompany me to my appointment?

Yes, an escort (also called a Personal Care Assistant (PCA)) can ride with you if medically necessary, such as for children, individuals with disabilities, or those needing assistance or interpretation.

How do I apply for MATP services?

Contact rabbittransit to apply. You will need to provide your Medical Assistance (ACCESS) card number and information about your transportation needs. Learn more and download the application here.

Important: 30-Day Rule (Courtesy Rides)

You can start receiving rides right away while applying. However, you must submit a signed MATP application within 30 days, or your transportation services will stop.

Be Prepared for Driver Arrival

We operate with a 30-minute pick-up window.*

  • The evening before your trip, you’ll get an automated call with your pick-up window.  You can also check the Find My Ride Schedule website or call Customer Service at 1-800-632-9063.
  • Drivers arrive within the window and wait 5 minutes for you to board.
  • If the driver arrives early, the 5 minute wait starts at the beginning of your window.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • rabbittransit provides you with a pick up window.
  • The driver will arrive within the window.
  • The driver will wait 5 minutes if you’re not ready when they arrive.
  • After 5 minutes, the driver may mark you as a no-show and continue their route.

WHY CANCELLATIONS MATTER:

If you can’t make your trip, let us know!

This is a shared ride. Giving us a heads-up helps ensure everyone gets where they need to go on time — including you.

*The PA Department of Human Services granted rabbittransit a waiver regarding pickup windows for MATP services. For more information call 1-800-632-9063.
