FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
rabbittransit LAUNCHES NEW SHREWSBURY PARK AND RIDE

York, PA As gas prices continue to escalate and more commuters search for transportation alternatives, rabbittransit announces the addition of a temporary new park and ride location in Shrewsbury. Situated near Tom’s Market at the former Crown Service Station, the park and ride lot will be open to the general public as encouragement to leave autos behind exchanging them for carpooling, vanpooling or public transit options.
Shipley Energy has generously offered the use of the property to commuters until they determine a future use. “We anticipate the location to be accessible at least 6 months or longer, given the complexity of land development use,” commented rabbittransit Executive Director Richard Farr. “We are extremely grateful for this opportunity provided by Shipley which will assist York County residents in their car and vanpooling efforts.”
“This offer could not come a moment too soon. The current park and ride location in Shrewsbury is bursting at the seams,” comments State Representative Stan Saylor, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (YAMPO). Saylor adds, “This offer will provide the transportation planning partners, including rabbittransit, the York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Commuter Services of South Central PA, the time needed to seek a more permanent solution.” In addition to carpooling, rabbittransit needs additional parking locations to assist in making the commuter service to Maryland a reality.
This is the fourth park and ride area to be utilized by rabbittransit riders. Other locations include: Kmart at Haines Road, Exit 24 Hop-a-Ride (corner of Church Road and Board Road) and Exit 33, east side of I83.
