FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
rabbittransit Gears Up for
Express Service to Harrisburg

York, PA The new rabbitEXPRESS service to Harrisburg is scheduled to premiere on Monday, June 19. Designed for commuters traveling between York and Harrisburg, rabbitEXPRESS hopes to alleviate the stresses of travel including high fuel prices, inclement weather and vehicle wear and tear. rabbitEXPRESS will operate six round trips on weekdays between the York Metro area and downtown Harrisburg and HAAC.
The sleek black vehicles, branded exclusively as rabbitEXPRESS, will feature larger, more luxurious seats which recline. Other amenities include laptop power sources and earphone jacks, luggage racks, tray tables and footrests. The buses also sport another highly desirable accommodation Satellite Television. The new line of vehicles will be the first ever to accept credit cards, enabling customers to purchase fare cards or discounted multi-trip passes on board.
“A lot of time and planning has gone into this service. We believe that our future customers will be pleased with everything the rabbitEXPRESS offers. It is going to be just what they have been waiting for,” explains rabbittransit's Executive Director Richard Farr.
The service also offers a new convenient Park and Ride lot at Exit 24 (Hop-a-Ride) and the use of an existing lot at Exit 33 and the K-Mart on Haines Road for commuters to be dropped off or park their car for the day. The Hop-a-Ride lot features free parking in a secure and well-lit fenced location, complete with security cameras. rabbittransit anticipates that commuters in the greater York area will use the new Park and Ride for both the rabbitEXPRESS and for ride-sharing. rabbittransit offers carpooling solutions in partnership with Commuter Services, an on-line ride matching service, www.pacommuterservices.com.
Another important component of the service is the Emergency Ride Home Program. This program would guarantee registered participants a free ride home one time per month, up to three times per year, in case of an emergency. This program will reimburse taxi fare up to $75.00 per trip.
The launch of rabbitEXPRESS will kick off with fresh coffee and refreshments for commuters the week of June 19. The first 50 to purchase rabbitEXPRESS passes will receive a complimentary travel mug for their journey and all riders will be eligible to enter a drawing for a prize pack.
rabbittransit has received Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funding to purchase rabbitEXPRESS vehicles and will provide three years of express service to Harrisburg.
