York Adams Transportation Authority Completes Merger with New Board

York, PA – rabbittransit announced the final completion of its merger between the York County Transportation Authority (YCTA) and the Adams County Transit Authority. YCTA has been managing the Adams County Transit Authority for over a decade.  Since November 2009, both organizations have worked hard to create a new, single organization to meet the transit needs for both counties.

The coordination has created a centralized Call Center and Mobility Planning Office that assists all paratransit riders from both York and Adams County. The merger will also provide additional opportunities for increased efficiencies as administrative functions are streamlined. The new organization, known as the York Adams Transportation Authority, will continue to utilize the rabbittransit brand.

An outcome of the merger is the appointment of a new board of directors by the respective County Commissioners. The new board is comprised of members from both York and Adams counties, including:

  • Darlene A. Brown, Executive Director of the Adams County Housing Authority/Pennsylvania Interfaith Community Programs Inc./Turning Point Interfaith Mission.

  • John Callenback, retired from Adams County Planning Commission as Director of Planning Services. He has been involved with transit for more than 30 years.

  • Richard Carson, President of Webb Insurance based in Hanover, a leading regional employee benefits brokerage and consultants firm.

  • William Clark, Chief of Transportation Planning with the York County Planning Commission (YCPC). YCPC is the lead staffing agency for the York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (YAMPO), the local decision making body for all Federal and State Surface Transportation dollars in York County.

  • George Heim, a retired Business Executive of Industrial Machinery and Equipment.

  • Keith Martin, a Major Account Manager at Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, who has served on the Board at rabbittransit since 1997 in various roles including Treasurer and Vice Chairman.

  • David McIntosh, a retired Business Executive and Founder and CEO of Industrial Solid State Controls, York, a producer of discrete part manufacturing and process control system components.

  • Lisa Moreno, Adams County Commissioner and transit board representative.

  • Raymond Rosen, Chief Operating Officer for York Hospital and involved in Authority/Transportation Governance for over 33 years.

The York Adams Transportation Authority will hold its first official Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
